Joy Bhowmik is a Lecturer-cum-Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. He has a couple of masters. He received his first master's in Botany from the University of Chittagong and the second one from the University of Cologne, Germany with a major in Environmental Sciences. Besides teaching, Joy’s experience spans over six years in developing, managing, and coordinating high-value and complex multi-stakeholder projects with organizations such as Oxfam, ILO, Winrock International, WaterAid, UNFCCC, and UNCCD. With a diverse professional background, his current focus area is in sustainable development, people, and natural hazards working at the interface of policy-practice research. Notably, he leads the ULAB’s campus sustainability program, coordinate a minor program for undergraduate students known as minor in Sustainable Development Studies. Additionally, he also leads the design and research of climate change adaptation, and Disaster Risk Management. His works also include climate finance, implementing National Adaptation Plans, and preparing policy discussion document on sustainable livelihood diversification.
